Economizing internet resources

If we are to build a successful website for the long-run and one that will
be stable in the long-term, then we must need to economize our internet
expenses. Whether our website be for profit or non-profit, economizing
is always a wise and conservative way of using our resources so that we
will not be saddled with too high credit obligations or many overdue bills
that need to be paid. One way of economizing our internet expenses is not
to be too aggressive in buying the latest model of a PC or the most
upgraded tool we find. True, it is important that we progress, but if we
progress at a pace too fast that our resources are spent too much, that we
oftentimes forget about the long-term, then our website will suffer the
consequences. Maybe the wise and conservative principle we can follow
is "always look to the future" - but not only in terms of vision but also in
terms of what resources we have presently and see how we can connect
the present to where we want to go in a wise and steady way. When
resources are starting to show that they are in steady and stable supply,
and there is a sign and opportunity of increasing them, only then can we
decide whether to move on and progress from where we are right now.

Progress is by slow and steady steps

If we learn to economize our expenses, then we will see the wisdom of
progressing our website in slow and steady steps. If we take too many
steps all at once or if we skip some steps or if we speed up our step to
the top, then it is likely that those steps might not have really been
placed well on the "ground". As in mountain climbing, we need to make
a sure foothold. Otherwise one step made too fast, or steps made too
many, or skipping a step, may endanger our situation and instead of
making it to the top of the mountain, we fall down and hurtle headlong
into our destruction. There is the story told of how mountain deer
ascend the high-steeped hills or mountains of the land around them.
The first thing the deer does is place his two front feet on a higher
ledge of the mountain to test if it is steady. If he finds it unsteady,
he will look towards another place to ascend the mountain. So, he tries
again. When he places his forelegs forward and this time feels that it is
really steady, he brings up his hind legs to make sure that his step forward
was correct. With all feet on the ledge, if the ledge holds up his weight,
only then will he think again and move his forelegs at a higher ledge of
the mountain. What we can see here is that a deer will not move on if the
ledge he is on will not be steady or stable and be able to hold his entire
weight. So it is with our resources. Let us be sure we are in the direction
of economizing well until we are steady and stable before we can make that
next step forward and upward.

We can economize in many simple ways

First of all, we must avoid the temptation of trying to beat or outdo our
competition in terms of style or fashion or fad. These things do not last.
What we should hold on to are the things that last. If the new thing or
technique seems to be solidly related to some thing we are already doing,
then we go for it. However, if it is only a style or a fashion craze in
the Internet, then better to stick to our knitting. Often it is these
new styles or fashion crazes that will make us spend our resources
unwisely and thereby upset our financial balance. It is important that
we learn how to make sound financial decisions so that may not be caught
off balance. One basic rule of thumb could be: when we need to spend,
make the cost variable rather than fixed. If ever we need to make a
fixed cost, we need to think not only twice but more times. And we must
regularly do our accounting to see where we are with the website's
business. A second rule of thumb is affordability. Let us not get too
proud that we can spend so much and buy something expensive even
though we can afford to do so. Even if we have the resources, always
choosing what is really affordable will help build our resources steadily
and make it more stable so that we can continue in the long run of
maintaining a quality website that will serve the Internet public.
